That will depend on the reason that the speeds are slow with the RAP. You can absolutely wire the Pro 6 to the Ring Alarm Pro (RAP), though I cannot guarantee you will see full speeds via wifi. u/_Kuba Thanks for posting! Happy to address your questions in turn. And I get to just completely ignore the Ring Alarm Pros slow speeds since I'm using a separate network. I get my full gigabit with hardwired devices and wifi devices average 600+. So I just set it back to automatic.Įverything works great. UPDATE: If you follow the thread here, you'll see I got things all working with the Eero Pro 6 hardwired to the Ring Alarm Pro and creating a new network using it followed by setting the Pro 6 to bridge mode.Īfter some thought, I wasn't understanding the point of setting the Pro 6 to bridge mode. Would my scenario work just as well with a 6+ rather than a Pro 6? My final question is really just what exactly the difference would be between the Eero Pro 6 and the Eero 6+? The only difference I see is that Pro 6 is tri-band (?) and the 6+ is dual-band, but the Pro 6 is $90 more. If I am correct in how all this would work then we're in business. So, this would be: modem > hardwired Ring Alarm Pro (as gateway) > hardwired Eero Pro 6 (as main router) > wireless Eero Pro 6 (as another access point allowing devices to have full hardwire speed) I am also wanting to confirm that if I get a 2nd Eero Pro 6, I can put it in a different room and it can then connect to my 1st Eero Pro 6 wirelessly and I can hardwire devices to that 2nd Eero Pro 6 to get a full speed, wired connection even though my devices are plugged into a wireless router. It would be: modem > hardwired Ring Alarm Pro (as gateway) > hardwired Eero Pro 6 (as router that devices are using to get full speeds) so that's not gonna cut it.įrom what I've read and understood, I can get an Eero Pro 6 and hardwire it to the Ring Alarm Pro and my devices can then connect to the Eero Pro 6, wired or wireless, and get the proper gigabit speeds. Well, we get a whopping 5Mbps on average using the Ring Alarm Pro's normal Eero 6 as our router. We didn't realize at the time of purchasing that the Ring Alarm Pro needs to act as the gateway rather than us being able to use my usual router. My wife and I just moved into a new house and got gigabit Internet along with a Ring Alarm Pro. I know this has been asked before, but I just want to clarify to make sure I'm understanding correctly as I have never used a mesh system before.
